Coroplast Global | News | 03 Feb 2023 Apprentice project raises 3,100 euros for a local foundation

A great success and a special moment for the winning team of our apprentice pitch at the Wuppertal site: Our four apprentices collected a handsome sum for the Bergisches Kinder- und Jugendhospiz Burgholz by selling their self-produced honey - and they were of course allowed to present the donation check in person at the beginning of January.

A success story

Independent project work with clear goals - in 2022, three teams started the trainee pitch under the motto "Urban Gardening". In the end, the "AZUBEES" convinced the jury of the in-house challenge with the establishment of two bee colonies on the roof of one of our production buildings. The project group, consisting of two industrial clerks, a dual student of international management and an IT specialist, was particularly successful in combining their interdisciplinary know-how. They were able to set up their two beehives in May and harvest their first honey as early as mid-September. The four amateur beekeepers filled the honey into tastefully designed jars and sold around 120 of them in our company restaurant. In doing so, they used the project budget of 4,500 euros very cleverly and, with the remaining budget saved, increased the sales proceeds to the considerable donation sum of 3,100 euros.

Ceremonial handover: At the beginning of January, the winners of our trainee pitch presented the collected donation sum of 3,100 euros to the staff of the Burgholz Children's and Youth Hospice in the mountains.

Our project was a complete success. The honey supply emptied quickly - the donation box filled up all the more! It was a great feeling to be able to support the important work of the hospice with the money.

Team AZUBEE

Teamwork with social impact

With their donation, our apprentices are making an active contribution to the Coroplast Group's wide-ranging social commitment and supporting an exceptional institution in the vicinity of our site. The Bergisches Kinder- und Jugendhospiz Burgholz sees itself not only as a place of mourning and farewell, but above all as a place of beautiful moments and happy memories. Our apprentices and the Coroplast Group are pleased to be able to contribute to this.
