During the summer of 2023, Oliver Krischer is touring the whole of NRW in Germany to find out about climate protection and the circular economy from various companies. This is because the Environment and Economics Ministries in NRW are pursuing an ambitious vision for the future: Together, they want to strengthen the business location and, in this context, make North Rhine-Westphalia the first climate-neutral industrial region in Europe as quickly as possible. On his tour, the minister also visited the headquarters of the Coroplast Group in Wuppertal.
In a straightforward discussion, Natalie Mekelburger explained to the Minister of the Environment the practical challenges facing medium-sized companies in the transition to a climate-neutral economy. For example, the Chairwoman of the Management Board criticized the escalating bureaucracy in connection with extended testing and documentation requirements or the ban on non-critical chemical groups, which will be difficult to replace in the manufacture of many of the Coroplast Group's products – especially when it comes to maintaining high quality standards.
In addition, Natalie Mekelburger, Kerstin Häusler (Senior Expert Sustainability and Innovation) and Marco Braun (Project Manager Sustainability, Research and Development) presented the extensive sustainability activities and product developments of the Coroplast Group and its subsidiary brands to the minister. The visit was rounded off with a factory tour.
Environment Minister Oliver Krischer was visibly impressed and praised the numerous measures with which we, as a "hidden champion", aim to further expand our leading role in the field of sustainability and have a positive impact on society and the environment.
